What We Do

Defining the Message

Who are you? What do you do? What’s your value proposition? Why do you matter?

Our experience reveals that these are far more challenging questions for any organization to answer succinctly and consistently, even among those that have enjoyed long or successful histories. There often are many audiences and stakeholders to reach, multiple products or services to address, and plenty of competition and industry challenges to overcome – which is why clearly defining messages and helping you articulate them is critical to mounting any successful communications strategy. And this is true whether you’re launching a startup or leading a successful enterprise.

Our expertise is in helping you gain razor-sharp clarity in defining your message and helping you achieve measureable results when communicating your message through strategic delivery channels. We take a three-step approach to defining your message:

Assess

We assess all existing marketing collateral and communication activity circulating within and sent outside the company to map current messages, brand articulation and overall consistency in communication strategy. This includes printed materials, websites, intranets, proposals, presentations, social media feeds and any media coverage that has been secured. Depending on the organizational needs, we also conduct one-on-one interviews and anonymous surveys among employees, board members, community stakeholders, vendors and customers, as appropriate, to gain a baseline understanding of stakeholder perceptions of the company and its communications.

Conduct

Upon sharing our assessment findings, we lead your company’s leadership and communications professionals through a strategic messaging session to address several communication considerations by challenging assumptions, sparking meaningful dialogue, and tightly refining the strategic focus through a compelling set of messaging concepts.

Develop

Influenced by our assessment and messaging session, we develop a key message framework that synthesizes the most critical and compelling messages about the company, which serves as a roadmap for all messaging and communications initiatives going forward.
